Residential Colleges for First-Year Students
First-year residential students at Case Western Reserve University become a member of one of three residential colleges, located in the North Residential Village. Each residential college has its own identity, theme, and traditions.
Because of their size and structure, the residential colleges allow students to feel comfortable in their smaller building communities and, at the same time, encourage residents to become a member of a larger community of other first-year students.
First-Year Experience
As a part of the larger first-year experience, the residential colleges play an integral part in a first-year student's personal and academic transformation.
The residential colleges help students transition into their new communities, connecting them with the university through academics, campus activities, residence hall programs, and other events. Our goal is to help each resident establish a foundation for future success.
Residential College Staff
Coordinators of First-Year Residential Education (FYCs) are live-in professionals with a master's degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field. The FYC possesses a variety of academic and student life experiences and is responsible for supervising the college staff and overseeing the entire residential college.
Assistant Coordinators of First-Year Residence Education (AFYCs) are graduate students who also live in the residential colleges, providing support for residents and assisting coordinators with community development, on-call coverage, and supervising the college staff.
Resident Assistants (RAs) are upperclass students who live in the colleges. They help plan social and academic programs for students. Each night, a resident assistant is on call to lend support and respond to residents' interpersonal issues, roommate conflicts, or other concerns.
